For much of the 1950's and most of the 1960's WORC Radio 1310 AM
Worcester, MA, was one of the most popular All Request "Rock n' Roll" radio
stations in the country. Many of the top record companies knew if a song made
it on WORC chances were great the song would make it in New York, Los Angeles,
Chicago, and in cities and towns and villages all over the U.S.A. To take part
in WORC promotions stars like Connie Francis, Roy Orbison and Fabian would breeze through
Worcester. At times WORC enjoyed a 70% share of the audience. That means 7 out of 10
people listening to the radio in the Greater Worcester Market were listening to WORC. |
